The original book by Imam Ghazali is magnificent and beyond my capacity to review. But this particular translation is neither very good nor correct. The translation is too literal and somewhat mechanical. It is not very lively and there are a lot of poor sentence structure as well as omission of important examples which are available in the original text. When compared with the English translation by David Buchman (titled the Niche of Lights) it becomes apparent that the translator missed many important examples given by Ghazali as well as the original flow of the text. Although the translation suffers greatly from many apparent flaws, I have given it 3 stars because of the inclusion of a great biography of Imam Ghazali and the supreme content of the book. I have been looking for a complete Bangla translation of this great book but unfortunately I think there isn't any. There is another Bangla translation available which is even more concise.
