বুক রিভিউঃ আতাতুর্ক থেকে এরদোয়ান আধুনিক প্রজাতান্ত্রিক তুরস্কের ১০০ বছরের ইতিহাস নিয়ে রচিত এই গ্রন্থে অটোমান সাম্রাজ্যের পতনের পর ইসলামী মতাদর্শ থেকে তুরস্কের বিচ্যুতি ও সেক্যুলার মতাদর্শে রুপান্তর এবং সেক্যুলার মতাদর্শ থেকে আবার ইসলামী মতাদর্শের দিকে প্রত্যাবর্তনের বিশ্লেষণধর্মী ইতিহাস উঠে এসেছে। আতাতুর্ক এবং এরদোয়ান দুই বিপরীত মতাদর্শের প্রতিনিধিত্বকারী নেতা ও মহানায়ক। প্রথমজন অটোমান স্ম্রাজের ক্রান্তি লগ্নে স্ম্রাজ্যবাদী ইউরোপীয় শক্তির দখলদারীত্ব থেকে ইস্তাম্বুল ও আনাতোলিয়াকে মুক্ত করে তুরস্ককে প্রজাতান্ত্রিক রুপ প্রদান করেন এবং ৬৩৬ বছরের রাজতান্ত্রিক শাসনের অবসান ঘটান। পরবর্তীতে তিনি একনায়কতান্ত্রিক শাসন ব্যাবস্থার মাধ্যমে ১৫ বছর প্রেসিডেন্ট হিসেবে রাষ্ট্র শাসন করেন এবং এ সময়ের মধ্যে তুরস্কের ইসলামি ঐতিহ্য ও মূল্যবোধকে নির্মমভবে মুছে ফেলার চেস্টা করেন। শত শত বছর চেস্টা করেও ইউরোপের ক্রুসেডার শক্তি যে কাজটি করতে পারেনি, তুরস্কের শাসক মোস্তফা কামাল পাশা গ্রেফতার, ফাঁসী ও আইন প্রনয়ণের মাধ্যমে সে কাজটিই আমরণ করে গেছেন। ১৯৩৮ সালে তার মৃত্যু হলেও তার যোগ্য রাজনৈতিক ও সেনা অনুসারীরা সেক্যুলার মতাদর্শ ও শাসন ব্যাবস্থাকে সাফল্যের সাথে আধিপত্যবাদী সমাজ ও রাস্ট্র ব্যাবস্থা হিসেবে টিকিয়ে রেখেছেন অ্যাজও। এই দীর্ঘ সময়ে জাতীয়তাবাদী ও ইসলামী মতাদর্শধারী অনেক ব্যাক্তি ও দল তুরস্কের মসনদে আসা যাওয়া করেছেন। কিন্তু তুরস্কের রাজনীতি ও সমাজব্যাবস্থায় সেক্যুলার চরিত্রটিকে চ্যালেঞ্জ ছুঁড়ে দিতে পারেন নি কেউই। এই অসাধ্য কাজটি সর্বপ্রথম সাফল্যের সাথে যিনি করে দেখিয়েছেন, তিনি হলেন তুরস্কের প্রেসিডেন্ট রিসেপ তাইয়েপ এরদোয়ান। ইসলামী আদর্শকে বুকে ধারণ করে নিজের ঈর্ষনীয় ব্যাক্তিত্ব ও নেতৃত্বের গুনে রুগ্ন অর্থনীতির দেশ তুরস্ককে সুশাসন, উন্নয়ন ও অন্যতম শীর্ষ অর্থনীতির দেশে পরিনত করেছেন তিনি। পাশাপাশি বিপুল জনসমর্থন নিয়ে দুই দশকেরও বেশি সময় ধরে তিনি ও তার দল রয়েছে সরকারে। এরদোয়ান, সেক্যুলার সমাজব্যাবস্থার জুলুম নির্যাতন থেকে তুরস্কের সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠ মানুষকে মুক্তি দিয়েছেন ও ধর্মপ্রাণ মানুষের ধর্মীয় স্বাধীনতা ফিরিয়ে দিয়েছেন। কিন্তু এটা করতে গিয়ে সেক্যুলার জনগোষ্ঠীর অধিকার খর্ব করেন নি। তার এই ক্যারিশম্যাটিক নেতৃত্বের গুনে তিনি “আতাতুর্ক” (তুর্কী জাতির জনক)-এর মতো চটকদার ও তোষামোদীমূলক উপাধী গ্রহণ না করেও পরিণত হয়েছেন তুরস্কের মুকুটহীন সম্রাটে যিনি কুচক্রের মাধ্যমে ক্ষমতায় আসেননি আর জুলুম নির্যাতন করে ক্ষমতা দীর্ঘায়িত করেন নি। “আতাতুর্ক থেকে এরদোয়ান” মূলতঃ তুরস্কের নাস্তিক্যবাদী আর আস্তিক্যবাদী শক্তির দীর্ঘ দ্বন্দ-সংঘাতের ইতিহাস। গ্রন্থটিতে নিছক ইতিহাস বর্ণনা করা হয়নি; বরং প্রতিটি রাজনৈতিক দল ও তাদের শাসনকাল, উল্লেখযোগ্য রাজনৈতিক ব্যাক্তিত্ব, রাজনৈতিক মতাদর্শের বিবর্তন এবং সমসাময়িক ঘটনাবলী যা তুরস্কের রাজনীতিকে করেছে ব্যাপকভাবে প্রভাবিত, তার বিশ্লেষনধর্মী আলোচনাও স্থান পেয়েছে। প্রচ্ছদ মানানসই। তবে ২য় সংস্করণে এসেও ভুল বানানের ছড়াছড়ি। যাই হোক, তুরস্ক নিয়ে মানুষের জানার আগ্রহ অস্বাভাবিক বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে; যার প্রমাণ হচ্ছে অটোমান সাম্রাজ্য নিয়ে অতীতের যে কোন সময়ের চেয়ে অধিক গ্রন্থ বাংলা ভাষায় প্রকাশ পাওয়া এবং তুর্কী সিরিয়ালগুলোর ক্রমবর্ধমান জনপ্রিয়তা। যারা আধুনিক তুরস্ককে জানতে চায়, তাদের জন্য আলোচ্য গ্রন্থটি একটি অবশ্যপাঠ্য গ্রন্থ বলে আমি মনে করি। লেখক এবং প্রকাশক উভয়কেই আমার আন্তরিক ধন্যবাদ।

With his enviable personality and leadership, he has transformed Turkey from a poor economy into a country of good governance, development and one of the top economies. Besides, he and his party have been in government for more than two decades with huge public support. Erdoğan freed the majority of Turkish people from the oppression of secular society and restored religious freedom to religious people. But in doing so it did not undermine the rights of the secular population. His charismatic leadership made him the uncrowned emperor of Turkey, who did not rise to power through nepotism or prolong his power by tyranny, without adopting the glamorous and flattering title of "Atatürk" (Father of the Turkish Nation). "Atatürk to Erdogan" is essentially a history of the long conflict between atheist and theist forces in Turkey.
